Welcome to the first post of icoulddietomorrow! To kick things off I wanted to post one of my favorite albums of all time and possibly my favorite sludge LP. This release is split between Japan's legendary Corrupted and California's Noothgrush, with each band taking up about 20 minutes on each side of the LP.

Corrupted is a doomy sludge band from Japan and if you are unfamiliar with them than the only thing you need to know about them is that they are THE sludge band to many. Also, despite their Japanese background, the vocals and inserts are in Spanish. Just sayin'. This side is particularly awesome, with a lone 19-minute song called "Inactive." The quality is pretty lo-fi, with the guitar being a little thin-sounding, but is in no way poorly produced, as this still sounds heavy-as-shit. This is another release that shows why this band is so well-regarded.

Obviously, the main draw to this album is the fact that it's a Corrupted release, but I actually enjoy the Noothgrush side more, as blasphemous as that may sound to some. Something I've noticed about bands doing splits with Corrupted (of which there are many) is that the other band always elevates their game to try and compete with Corrupted, resulting in some excellent releases. Like Grief's side of their split 7" with Corrupted, this release is Noothgrush's best. This is Noothgrush at their most misanthropic, with one song titled "Hatred For The Species." The other song, "Draize," more specific in its target, deals with vivisection and animal experimentation, a subject that holds weight with me. Biases and politics aside, this side is heavy and riffy and I would go so far as to say perfect.
