Looking back on 2008 so far, I can say with confidence that Bookburner's self titled 7" ranks amongst my favorite releases of the year. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Bookburner is a mysterious and brutal Powerviolence/grind band that clearly loves Man Is the Bastard. Hell, a third of this very short (7.5 minutes) release is comprised of a noise track reminiscent of Bastard Noise. While there isn't really anything original about this record, that doesn't mean it doesn't slay. To me, this is the most brutal release of 2008.

I urge you to not only check this out, but to buy the 7" from 16oh. Not only will you then be able to experience/have your face beat in by the awesome sound quality of the 7", but you will also be able to marvel at the magnificent artwork, courtesy of Jon Kortland of Iron Lung.
