Hailing from the almighty District of Columbia (the home of go-go) is Trouble Funk. Along with Chuck Brown, they are the most influential act of the genre. Their sound is much funkier than what go-go is now (mainly because go-go is now always mixed with hip-hop). On top of just being flat out great, they often allowed hardcore bands, such as the legendary Minor Threat, to open for them. Thats more cred then any one of us could ever dream of.
Get into it. DMV stand up!

Edit: For all you uncultured swine, Go-Go is an offshoot of funk that originated in and is basically only big in D.C. It is very percussion heavy and utilizes repetition. It's awesome. Also, the song "Trouble Funk Express" is a cover of Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express".
