I know I've already posted a bunch of shit from Henry's Dress (specifically their LP and 10",) but why not post their rarest release? The 1620 7" is the debut release from my favorite Slumberland band, which (let me tell you) is no mere feat. For the unacquainted, Henry's Dress were an indie band from the early and mid-90s from New Mexico and, later, San Fransisco that played lo-fi noise pop with alternating boy-girl vocals. You all wish you could make music like this.
On this specific release, the band is at its rawest, which is most definitely a positive thing. The band is still in an embryonic stage, but these two songs (actually, just the title track, as "Stumble" is practically an unfinished demo) are still fairly excellent, representing their slower, dreamier side. "1620," with its bouncy rhythm section (especially that booty bass) and its muted vocals, is pretty infectious, despite it's lack of torque. Not their best material by a long shot, this is still a very commendable effort. In fact, I would still say that the title track is a fantastic song. It took me such a long time to track this down in digital format (still looking for the actual 7",) but it was well worth the wait. Summer needs to fucking come faster.
