Koro's only [Edit: not entirely true] official release, this S/T 7", is one of my favorite 80s hardcore releases. I'm pretty positive I'm not the only person who holds this EP in such high regards, as I constantly see it referred to as legendary in the great, internet annals of history. After listening to this 7", it's easy to see why: these Tennessee natives crafted one of the most raging pieces of thrashy hardcore. Every single song is a winner, the band plays so incredibly tight, and the production and sound of this EP is probably the most vivacious I've ever heard. The one-two punch of the military protest "Dear Sirs" and the cowbell-laden "Blap" alone possess enough energy to disintegrate the listener if somehow harnessed into some sort of laser pistol. Seriously, though, I won't keep naming highlights when every song is perfect, but let me just point out how the ending of "It's OK" is one of the best I've ever heard. OK? Enough talk, time to rage.

this actually isn't koro's only release, there is an LP titled "speed kills" as well, and i'm pretty sure there's a demo tape of some sort floating around out there somewhere. the lp isn't nearly as good as this 7" though, the songs are a lot slower and have a more jammy feel to them, the music doesn't seem as desperate and urgent as it does on this record. i do agree with you that this 7" absolutely kills, and your review was spot on. both this 7" and the lp got repressed fairly recently, i think they came out on sorry state records but i could be wrong. anyways, they aren't all that difficult to come by so to anyone who is just hearing this for the first time and would like to obtain a physical copy, i'd say it's worth your time and money to track one down.

Erik - I was under the impression that it was some bootleg release that came out way after the fact. Good to know. And thanks for the good word!

Anonymous - I gotta disagree: I think Speed Kills kinda sucks. Just me, though.

One time while looking through the Havoc distro this 7" came up and a buddy asked me if I owned it yet. I said no and he handed me five bucks to buy it. Wise move on his part.

So fucking good.

Adam, I am imagining the possible ways we can spare ourselves this awful fate (the fate of Koro) when I move into Chris's room...
