Count Me Out was a straight edge youth crew revival band from Richmond. Like many other great hardcore bands, they have been forgotten because the scene has been flooded with hype bands (Heathen[s] are fucking sick, though). I'm a mother fucking hardcore elephant though, I don't forget shit.
CMO has two classic full length. 110 was a quick straight edge masterpiece, while Permanent is slightly more melodic, but still just as sharp. Although some of the songs are ambiguous and could go either way with their meaning, the closer, "Dear You", is undoubtedly about a past relationship. Its what's on repeat in my headphones.
Sorry to be such a downer y'all. Hope you all have a great edge day. March the streets 30 or 40 strong, united against a world that's wrong.

P.S. Have Heart sucks. Go to this.

i'm sorry you got dumped... hope you'll feel better soon :) your blog is amazing, keep it up!
I really wish I could have seen Have Heart.
I never get tired of rolling joints on my The Promise 7" or my Gorilla Biscuits "Start Today" LP. Somehow the two go together so well.
After work I'm gonna do a Bane post, maybe some more straight edge bands too, we'll see.
"I'm a mother fucking hardcore elephant though" = win
i love it when people play straight edge at the bar without trying to be ironic
count me out is classic hc? really? all that mid-nineties rehash youth crew core is good and all, but classic? you kids today, with your color purple, spandex pants, and instant full body sleeve tattoos....
oh yeah, if you're straight edge, chilling in the bar waiting for minor threat to play is one of the saddest things i've ever heard. stay out of bars sxe doods, isn't the point of sxe to not be surrounded by that kind of stuff?
get your heads right kids....
Anonymous- Agreed, the Edge is all about cheering and marching. Trey: How could someone so handsome be dumped! Criminal!
My crime: Waited seven hours in a car in a parking lot and then an abandoned lot in beautiful Revere, MA. Saw old friend's band, Shipwreck play, ruled. Left before Have Heart trying to avoid Bane.
Bane-free since 2000.
anonymous, I don't know what you're talking about. I don't hang out in bars and although I'd prefer a straight edge lady friend, cute straight edge girls that are into colored folk are few and far between. I don't wear too many colors and I don't own spandex. You're out of touch.
Colman, I recently went to a really old venue and saw Bane and Strike Anywhere. It was like a high school reunion. So many stage dives. I don't regret it at all.
eye of judgement sat around my living room watching bust a nut in grandma's butt last night and refused to turn it off when i asked them to.
oh god, hahaha. they didn't do anything like that at our house, but they were pretty bad live.
i didn't watch their set at all, but i was sad to hear that they left the hockey masks behind. they stickered our defaced aa poster as well, and taped one of their pins on our kramer portrait.
What "hype" bands are you referring to?
i was recently dumped and have been revisiting my favorite edge bands as well. Lots of Betrayed lately.
I was going to go to a hardcore show on edge day(no edge bands playing though(hard to come by in my neck of the woods for what ever reason) Got to the venue which is a small DIY space with a bike and screen print workshop and anarchist library all in various rooms. The one guy there working in the shop said he didn't know about the show, but i was welcome to hang out as long as didn't steal shit and locked up on my way out if no one showed. Read zines and comix for two hours in an abandoned warehouse waiting for a show that had fallen through. Bane, Blacklisted, and Foundation on tuesday should make up for the cancelled show.
also Have Heart were lame.
to prevent my foot and/or ass being shoved in my mouth I'm not going to give names of hype bands.
T.E.B.H., Where is this venue you stumbled upon? Some friends and I are actually putting together a bike co-op, print making facility, and free school right outside of pittsburgh in the next couple years.
The place is Little Hamilton Collective in Nashville, TN. They had, untill very recently(last week or so) a webpage with some detailed information on the facility, but now it redirects to the Myspace at:

As far as the DIY spaces in Nashville, they seem to be doing everything right, as all the others get shut down after a month or two. They're some of the nicest guys i've met in the nashville scene, so drop them a line, and if you ever make it down this way, try and check out a show if you can.
Anonymous is kind of confusing. Purple spandex? What?
Also, Trey, nevermind edge ladies into colored folk, I'm pretty sure edge ladies in general are a myth.
Cool info about Nashville though.
