It's rare that I will fulfill a random request, but this is such a special record that I just had to do it. This one goes out to Harris. I had previously posted a Japanese favorite of mine, Aburadako's Ki-ban, which represented the more experimental side of the long-running band, so this is a great chance to check out their more ferocious, hardcore punk sound. Their flexi on ADK is one of my favorite Japanese punk 7"s ever (and I haven't even heard the actual record!) and their debut 12" is the last of their more hardcore material.
This 12" is also on the aforementioned ADK label. On their earlier material, the band is certainly packing a punch, but Aburadako doesn't perform powerbombs (sorry, but I've been playing WWF games on the N64 recently) on the listener, but instead delivers a more precise attack, kind of like a Ken Shamrock ankle lock (note: prepare yourself for lots of submission holds, a black man my potentially-racist girlfriend thought was Shaq, and, ninety seconds into it, Juliette Lewis getting stoked!). Sorry. Anyhow, while this material is more straight-ahead than their later work, the experimentation is still present, as the B-side opens up with the noise track of " 童愚," which finds one of the members doing his best impression of a dying cat. Still, the main reason to check this out is the main set of songs, which might be their strongest. Get into it.
