Artist: Duress
Album: Indifference 7"
Release: 2010
Label: Underestimated
Tracklist:
1. Burden Of Truth/Never Wrong
2. Asshole
3. Allergic To Hope
4. Indifference
5. Spider
6. Guilt
Duress is another of the fast, ripping straight edge hardcore bands from Chicago and are probably my favorite of their ilk that I can think of off the top of my head. I hear they have an insane live show, as well, though I wouldn't know, as they canceled their scheduled Brooklyn show. Of course!
I had high hopes for this band, as their demo tape was pretty tight and they made an excellent appearance on the great Drugged Conscience tape comp The World Itself Is A Bad Dream. Their debut 7", Indifference, follows through in a big way, making for a great start to this year in hardcore. The recording of this 7" really allows the band to shine, with a distant-sounding guitar tone that just sounds incredible, particularly on the sick, reverbed leads. "Allergic To Hope," which appeared on the aforementioned tape comp, is presented in fuller, more definitive form here. Really though, every song delivers the goods and this is one fucking insane EP.
Indifference is coming out as a one-time pressing of 200 copies, so be sure to preorder this shit or buy it at one of their shows! Get ready to bedroom mosh, if only for four-and-a-half minutes.
And remember, stand tall.
