The first time I actually somewhat heard the Wu-Tang Clan was through this mashup mixtape done by the mighty Soul4hire aka Biz. Dude blended a capellas from classic Wu with French electro master Mr. Oizo. Obviously, the combo's results will never touch the magi of the RZA's production on 36 Chambers. If anything, the mixes often prove the sheer power of Wu rhymes-- dudes can bust over and through damn near any beat. Check out how U-God, Inspectah Deck and Raekwon's verses to "Da Mystery of Chessboxin'" sounds over splashy hi-hat and distorted buzzes and beeps. Or the intoxicating pulse that Biz layers under latter-day Wu hit "Gravel Pit" on "Flat Gravel Blend." So while it's not as dark and full of personality as the band's early material, Shaolin Worm Attack is an interesting reassembly of material.

After spending literally the entire day going through every post of this blog and downloading what tickled my fancy, I have two comments:

this is amazing. There's so much variety and this is probably my new favorite blog period.

and two...

thanks a lot!

Hhahaahha, Macklin, thank you!

And yeah, Adam speaks the truth.

Funny story: I'd never heard Kvlt Rittchewl until like two weeks ago when I finally joined a few thousand others and downloaded it from here, and I gotta say...I believe the hype. Great LP. But yeah, I'm not the cockjockey Adam is ;)

Trey, I was thinking the same thing about Asa's admission.

I LIKE CULT RITUAL. WHATEVER. Before their hype, during the backlash, and after. Wah.

Thanx for this! If you haven't heard it yet, there's a "Wu Tang VS. Dubstep" record called "Wu Tang Meets The Indie Culture, Vol. 2: Enter The Dubstep."
