Hailing from Montreal and sharing a member with the mighty Omegas, Slobs are one of the finest purveyors of stupid baby music in all of Canada. I was lucky enough to see live a year ago. I thought they were tight, but, being the scatterbrain I am, I forgot to ever actually pursue any of their recorded output until I was given their new 7" at the Government Warning/Omegas show and, let me tell you, I haven't stopped listening to it since.
Slobs play a punky style of (B)east coast-influenced hardcore garnished with some classic retardation. The band also has a curious pedigree: their guitarist Yannick is actually one of the girls from the popular No Joy. Can you guess which one? Back to the band, the first thing I noticed about their live show was how warm and open the guitar tone was and that little detail is also true of their debut EP, Look Busy Do Nothing. The 7" is comprised of four songs that blow by so quickly that they demand repeated listening. My favorite track is the second song "Weapons Free" which has one of the catchiest guitar lines I've heard in awhile.
I highly recommend checking out this 7", which just came out on Cowabunga Records, along with two other winners in the form of new School Jerks and Sweet Tooth 7"s. A label that does what it wants, I don't always like every release Cowabunga churns out, but dude KILLED it on this most recent batch of records, so be sure check out all of them.

Hell yeah. I slept on the Slobs demo until recently. I wish I wouldn't have so I could have added this 7" to the last Cowabunga! order I got (which had the aforementioned School Jerks and Sweet Tooth 7"ers that indeed rule).
Best label, hands down.
I love Cowabunga! too. I'll check those out.
